ARTURO BRENA
Arturo Brena evokes the surreal concept of duality, he is best known for his work creating “dual sculptures,” a technique in which he creates a physical sculpture that holds a second shape in its shadow waiting to be projected. “We only see light bouncing, objects remain unchanged in darkness.”
Inspired by his time growing up in Mexico City to his current residency in New York City, Arturo has found in modern philosophy and the intricacy of social behaviors a recurrent theme for his work as a sculptor. His formal studies in computer science and 20+ years in digital visual arts had led Arturo to seek the intersection between fine art and technology. He utilizes 3D print methods combined with other additive traditional sculpting methods to create his work.
